I can still remember these images vividly-my form teacher, Mrs Lim, admonishing a jittery and cowering Luke, who was as helpless and lost as a newborn puppy. When Mrs Lim rebuked him for his irresponsibility and laziness, he remained tight-lipped as tears streaked down his face. Mrs Lim repeatedly asked Luke to say something but her efforts proved fruitless. Exasperated at Luke for not giving his reason, Mrs Lim gave him a stern warning before dismissing him with a wave of her hand. Everyone, except me, watched Luke with complete disdain and hushed whispers followed him back to his table.
